The final Tideman Johnson work party for the season and the volunteer appreciation barbecue is on Saturday, May 5, 2012.

Volunteers will be spreading mulch over the plants recently planted along the creek.

In June, Friends of Tideman Johnson Park, in partnership with the Johnson Creek Watershed Council and Xerces Society, will be wading in Johnson Creek to conduct fresh water mussel survey.

No landscape maintenance is planned for June.

The work party is Saturday, May 5 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Volunteers will meet at the Springwater Trail at the base of the S.E. 37th Ave. trailhead.

The barbecue featuring Otto’s Sausages will begin around noon.

The work party is open to all ages and work tools will be provided.

Any person seeking to serve on the board must be an eligible member of the Ardenwald-Johnson Creek Neighborhood Association. To be a member, a person must be either a resident, property owner, governmental agency, business licensee, or a non-profit organization located within the boundaries of the Ardenwald-Johnson Creek Neighborhood Association in either Milwaukie or Portland city limits. Members must be at least 18 years of age to vote.

The City of Portland Noise Review Board will hold a public hearing Wednesday, May 9 at 6 p.m. regarding TriMet’s application for a construction noise variance for the project’s East Segment in southeast Portland, the portion between the Willamette River’s east bank and the Multnomah County line near S.E. Tacoma Street.

TriMet says normal construction hours are Monday–Saturday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The noise variance would allow night and/or Sunday work where the alignment crosses SE 8th, 11th and 12th avenues, Powell, Holgate and McLoughlin boulevards, Harold and Tacoma streets, and Crystal Springs Creek.

A public hearing will take place before the City of Portland’s Noise Review Board at the Bureau of Development Services Building, 1900 S.W. 4th Ave, Room 2500 B, Portland.

The Tacoma Street Station is located within the northwestern corner of Ardenwald-Johnson Creek Neighborhood Association boundary in the Portland city limits.

Milwaukie Police Cadets, Providence Milwaukie Hospital, and PSAC (Public Safety Advisory Committee) are hosting the third annual Prescription Drug Drop-Off Day on Saturday, April 30 at the Public Safety Building, located at 3200 S.E. Harrison Street, in Milwaukie. This initiative coincides with the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, scheduled nationwide by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

This free service will be available on Saturday, April 28, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The Public Safety Building is located on the corner of S.E. Harrison Street and S.E. 32nd Avenue in Milwaukie.

The final Milwaukie Baseball Citizen Task Force meeting has been rescheduled due to a scheduling conflict, according to City of Milwaukie’s website.

The meeting originally scheduled for Thurs., Apr. 19, has been rescheduled for Wed., Apr. 25, 6:30 p.m. at the St. Johns Episcopal Church (2036 S.E. Jefferson St, Milwaukie).

The Balfour Street Park Committee has set up an online fundraiser to raise funds for designing and building the new Balfour Park on S.E. Balfour St. in the Ardenwald neighborhood.

The fundraiser is through Flower Power Fundraising. For every purchase made on the site, 50% of the proceeds (excluding shipping fee) goes towards the new park.
