Free Junk Disposal Day

Got household junk to dispose of? Is there furniture sitting on your curbside with a “free” sign?

The City of Milwaukie is sponsoring a junk disposal day for the Milwaukie residents on Saturday, June 5, 2010, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Crosswhite Industrial Complex (64th and S.E. Johnson Creek Blvd.).

Milwaukie residents only are permitted to drop off one load of household junk at no charge.

You must bring the coupon from the front page of May 2010 The Pilot (3.5 MB PDF download) and your City of Milwaukie water bill for proof of residence.

What’s the status? Check out the NDA Updates

Have you ever wanted a quick update on a certain open neighborhood issue or event? added a new Web page recently that provides a brief status summary on open neighborhood-related business items, issues, and events. A hyperlink is provided after a summary if additional information about a particular item is available.

The NDA Updates (a link is also at the top menu bar) based the idea from a model used in City of Milwaukie’s weekly bulletin, “Community Connection’s,” which provides a summary updates in the their JCB Bulletin section.’s webmaster, Bryan Dorr added the page to improve and simplify public communications with other NDA members and the community.

Springwater Trail will close for construction, detour established

The Springwater Corridor Trail between S.E. 28th Ave. and S.E. Linwood Ave., will be closed between May 24 and June 15, 2010, for repaving construction.

A detour route has been established via S.E. Sherret St., S.E. 33rd Ave., S.E. Johnson Creek Blvd., and S.E. 45th Ave.

Bicyclists are advised to use caution at the S.E. 28th Ave. trailhead because the connector between the trail and S.E. 28th Ave. & S.E. Sherret St. is loose gravel.

May NDA Board of Directors election results

The Ardenwald-Johnson Creek Neighborhood Association Board of Directors and Committee election results from May 11, 2010 are now available.

Most incumbent board and committee members retained their position and will serve another one year term.

One position is vacant after Kim Hutchinson declined to serve for another term on the Public Safety Advisory Committee. Hutchinson also served on the Johnson Creek Secure Residential Treatment Facility (SRTF) Committee. The Neighborhood Association wishes Kim the best and thanks him for his hard work and dedication to the neighborhood and the community.

Neighborhood members also added one additional Board Member at Large position and elected resident Russ Stoll for that position.

Healthy kids outreach, concerts, and NDA elections on agenda for May 11

The meeting agenda for Tuesday, May 11, 2010, is now available online.

Jeff Davis will be providing an update on the upcoming Summer Concert Series that runs every Thursday in the month of August.

As every year, May is the board of directors and committee elections and the elections will take place at the May 11th meeting.
