The new stairs Springwater Trail to Tacoma St./Johnson Creek MAX station are nearly complete.
The stairs will save pedestrians walking from the east 0.2 mile by avoiding a switchback near McLoughlin Blvd. It also provides a safer alternative to hiking down the steep embankment.
Construction on the new stairs started in mid-September.
