Next year ODOT will repave 2.6 miles of McLoughlin Blvd from SE Harold St to SE Harrison St, replace the Crystal Springs Creek Bridge with a new culvert, improve sidewalks and ramps to be ADA compliant, and make repairs to the Johnson Creek Bridge. ODOT expects most of the construction to occur in the summer.
You can provide comments and learn more about the project, including information about closures and detours, at the online open house available here: www.99Epaving.org or by attending the in-person open house on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 5-7 PM at SMILE Station at 8210 SE 13th Avenue, Portland 97202.
Mark your calendars. The old Sellwood Bridge will be closed to traffic, beginning this Thursday, February 25th at 7 PM. From 7:30 to 8:30 PM, the public is invited to bring flashlights, electric candles or phone lights and walk across the old bridge for a final farewell ceremony marking the old bridge’s 90 years spanning the Willamette. Participants are asked to gather at SE Grand and Spokane no earlier than 7 PM.
Though the bridge will be closed to traffic until Tuesday, March 1st, there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the new bridge on Saturday, February 27th 12-4 PM. Parking is very limited in the neighborhood, so visitors are encouraged to walk or bike to the party, which will feature a parade, food carts, entertainment and “a few surprises.”
