Tideman Johnson Park Ready for Fall

It’s fall!  The calendar says fall and the weather says fall – finally! That mean’s things are picking up again in Tideman Johnson Park. In the last few years, we have really transformed Tideman Johnson into a thriving natural area, but there are always bad plants to remove, and room for more good plants to go in. it’s a work in progress, and one that depends on volunteers.

For those of you who are wondering, here’s our schedule of events for the coming year:

  • October 4, 2014
  • November 1, 2014
  • December 6, 2014
  • January – take a break!
  • February 7, 2015
  • March 7, 2015 (Watershed Wide Event)
  • April 4, 2015
  • May 2, 2015
  • June 6 , 2015 (End of Season BBQ)

And, as always:

9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tools provided! Refreshments too! Volunteers of all ages are welcome.

OK, that’s a lot to keep track of, but we’ll send reminders every month.

We hope to see you out there!

Possible Parking Regulation Changes

At Monday, September 22, 2014 regular neighborhood meeting, Transportation Chair Angel Falconer commented about the potential of residential parking permit regulation changes next year.

Conversations are beginning to find out if the existing Parking Permit Regulation adopted in 1993 will be suitable when TriMet’s Portland-Milwaukie light rail “Orange Line” opens September 13, 2015, including Downtown Milwaukie Station.

Ardenwald residents are being advised of the changes because of the neighborhood’s close proximity to Tacoma Street/Johnson Creek Station. Several residents near the new Tacoma Street Station are city of Portland residents within the Ardenwald-Johnson Creek boundary.

Milwaukie Police Warn Citizens of Recent Phone Scam

Milwaukie Police are warning citizens of a recent phone scam.

Milwaukie Police say on September 18, 2014, the dispatch center that answers Milwaukie area requests for police assistance was “inundated with calls from citizens regarding the latest telephone scam.”

LOCOM received 40 calls from citizens complaining about “aggressive and threatening” calls from the suspected caller claiming to work as an Internal Revenue Service auditor or a detective from the sex crimes unit. Police also reported the caller demanded that if money was not sent immediately, someone would arrive and arrest the recipient of the phone call.

Police remind the public that such calls are made by criminals scamming for money from unsuspecting or naive citizens.  Police also suggest if a citizen receives such call, hang up immediately. Do not send money-grams.

Police also remind citizens that government agencies, including law enforcement, never ask for fines or bills to be paid via money-gram, nor would they make such request by telephone.
