Heads up for cyclists accessing the Springwater Corridor Trail at SE 28th & Sherrett: The Ardenwald North Improvements will impact access to/from the Springwater here August 6-12. Due to gravelly conditions, the detour might depend on what type of bike you ride. Quoth the contractor:
“There will be detour signs on Van Water Street and Roswell Street that will direct folks north on 32nd Avenue.
- If you have a mountain bike (or are comfortable with walking your bike a short distance), I recommend turning left on Sherrett Street. There will likely be construction crews and lots of loose gravel on the roadway. Crews can help guide you to the Sherrett Street trailhead. This will be the most convenient route for most cyclists.
- If you have a road bike, I would recommend entering the Springwater Corridor from the Tacoma/Johnson Creek Park and Ride. Follow the detour signs on Roswell Street and Van Water Street that point north on 32nd Avenue. From there, head towards Tacoma Street. Bicyclists can access to the Park and Ride at the signal on the Tacoma overpass over McLoughlin. From the Park and Ride, there is a bike ramp up to the Springwater Corridor.”
