The Ledding Library (map it) is hosting a pair of mental health training workshops by Clackamas County Public Health. These events are free, and you can attend one or both:
Workshop 1 of 2: Be Sensitive, Be Brave for Mental Health
Friday, June 12, 2026, 10:30am – 12:30pm
This foundational training prepares community members and staff to recognize signs of mental health distress, understand common mental health conditions, and confidently support friends and loved ones of all ages during times of need. The workshop integrates culture and diversity throughout, ensuring that mental health challenges are understood and addressed within varied cultural contexts. Participants also learn practical tools for maintaining good mental health and preventing mental health conditions.
Workshop 2 of 2: QPR Training for Suicide Prevention
Monday, June 15, 2026, 6:15pm – 8:00pm
Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) is a brief, evidence-based suicide prevention training that teaches community members how to recognize the warning signs of suicide, ask directly about suicidal thoughts, persuade someone to seek help, and refer them to appropriate resources. Often described as the “CPR of suicide prevention,” QPR equips participants with simple, practical skills that can be used with friends, family members, coworkers, students, or community members.
