Big turnout for first concert of 2014

About 300 people turned out to bask under the blue sky with the setting sun and listen to the fantastic blues sounds of Kevin Selfe and the Tornadoes at the first Ardenwald Concert Thursday evening.

While the crowd kicked back on the lush green lawn in Ardenwald Park, Liz’s Creative Cafe and Milwaukie High School Dance Team were on hand for food and refreshment. The original food vendor was unable to attend the concert Thursday night.

At the end of the concert, Ardenwald-Johnson Creek Neighborhood Association chairman Jeff Davis randomly drew and called out raffle ticket numbers for fourteen different prizes as treasurer Chris Davis handed the prizes to the lucky winners.

Ardenwald’s Creek Committee chairman Russ Stoll had a table set up with information available and donation requests for the new Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail Tacoma St./Johnson Creek Station boardwalk.

The National Night Out event portion was very light. Only a Milwaukie Police Department captain attended briefly prior to the concert.

The next three concerts are Thursday, August 14, 21, and 28, from 7:00 p.m. to dusk.
